DISCOVERY
Ages 6-10
A life long love of learning begins in Discovery
In the Discovery Studio, learners spend their days exploring, creating, and engaging with big questions.

Discovery is designed to spark a lifelong love of learning, giving learners the freedom to explore interests while building foundational skills. Through engaging group discussions, exciting real-world challenges, and the practice of running their own community, learners develop confidence, build independence, and discover their own remarkable capabilities.
We believe that learning to learn, learning to do, and learning to be are more important than memorizing facts.

Learning Design
The Discovery Studio replaces the traditional system of lectures and grades with a dynamic, learner-centered structure:

-
Self-Paced Core Skills: Learners dedicate large blocks of time to mastering fundamental skills in reading, writing, and mathematics using adaptive, personalized software.

-
Real-World Projects: Abstract concepts are transformed into real-world, hands-on challenges and
projects, completed in collaborative groups. Through their choices, learners apply core skills to
solve complex problems and ignite deep curiosity.

-
Socratic Discussions: Learning is driven by powerful questions and open discussions.
This approach strengthens the learner's critical thinking, self-reflection, and clear
communication.

-
Professional Tools, Not Busy Work: We use professional tools for art, engineering,
technology, and storytelling in place of worksheets and busy work, ensuring the
learning is tangible and relevant.

-
Self-Governed Community: The studio community is bound by written promises
(Covenants), allowing learners to practice forming authentic friendships and
resolving interpersonal problems with integrity.

Measuring Mastery
BADGES
This system replaces traditional grades with proof of Mastery.

Learners pursue Badges across core disciplines (like Reading, Writing, Math, and Spelling). They only earn a Badge once they have proven they can apply a skill reliably and consistently.
EXHIBITIONS
Exhibitions are the high-stakes, real-world application of skills and knowledge.

The culmination of every major challenge (Project/Quest) is the Public Exhibition of Learning. Learners present their work, findings, and mastery to the community
TOOLS
Skills for Self Governance

As freedom increases, so does responsibility. Learners are equipped with advanced frameworks for time management, decision-making, and leadership, enabling them to manage their projects and studio responsibilities effectively.
